Selective silica removal in geothermal fluids: Implications for applications for geothermal power plant operation and mineral extraction

چکیده
Raw material extraction from geothermal fluids often comprises concentrating and cooling steps, which increases the risk of silica scaling formation. However, existing removal strategies do not consider impact on raw extraction. In this study, applicability element-selectivity three techniques (seed-induced, lime caustic precipitation) were tested in batch experiments using synthetic natural fluid samples. Increasing pH-value to 10.5 Ca/Si ratio > 1.25 was found mitigate effectively via formation calcium-silicate-hydrate phases (C-S-H phases). The developed process does affect materials is therefore suitable for brine mining purposes.

Mathematical Investigation of Soil Temperature Variation for Geothermal Applications
This paper aims to predict the periodic variation of ground temperature with depth for time variant condition of ambient air temperature and solar radiation data for Jamshedpur, India. Fourier series and numerical techniques have been used to determine (hottest and coldest day) diurnal and annual temperature variation of the year 2015. The diurnal temperature variation is up to 0.2 m depth of s...
متن کاملNew Inhibitors for Silica and Calcium Carbonate Control In Geothermal
Scale and corrosion control are big challenges in utilizing geothermal energy. In the production wells, during or after flashing, brineresults in higher pH, which can happen deep inside the well.Higher pH in combination with high temperature causes calcium carbonate precipitation. Silica/Silicate precipitation becomes a problem when the brine gets cold in the surface equipment and the rejection...

Editorial Topic 4 of the Renewable Energy Program of the Helmholtz Association focusses inter alia on the sustainable and cost-efficient use of geothermal reservoirs for base-load supply of heat and electricity by EGS. Current EGS projects show the limitations of such systems. Firstly, the localization of a potential reservoir prior to drilling still remains a major challenge. Secondly, the min...

The Energy Policy Act of 1992 embraces and implements many of the actions recommended by the President in the National Energy Strategy. .Independent geothermal power producers may be direct beneficiaries of 1) further deregulation of IPPs through their exemption from the provisions of the Public Utility Holding Company Act and 2) potentially freer access to utility-owned transmission facilities...
